July 2026 Windows 11 Security Update: What Optimizers Should Know
The July 14 cumulative update is available for supported Windows 11 releases, with one important Dell/Intel compatibility note.
The short version
Microsoft released the July 2026 security update on July 14 for supported Windows versions. For Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2, the current release is KB5101650; Microsoft’s release information lists builds 26200.8875 and 26100.8875 respectively.
The update includes prior June improvements, security hardening, a newer Windows curl build and fixes including behavior affecting some applications that use OLE Automation with Microsoft Office.
A limited compatibility block
Microsoft’s Windows message center says KB5101650 is not offered to a limited number of Dell devices with Intel processors because Dell reported a compatibility issue that could cause unexpected shutdowns, poor performance, increased heat and battery drain.
If Windows Update does not offer the package to an affected PC, do not force-install it from the catalog just to reach the newest build. Check Dell’s model-specific support information and Microsoft release health, then wait for the safeguard to be resolved.
